who’d-a-thunk-it?

How do you spell that? Yes, I know, that is not proper English, not proper at all. I’m not even sure if that’s a Southern-ism, because my family’s made up of Northerners that migrated South. Maybe it’s a redneck-ism, because you can be a redneck, even if you live up north. I assure you, I know some of them.

Who would have thought it? In April of 2011, I was preparing to travel to the other side of the world, and so, I started writing a blog. FOUR HUNDRED posts and almost two years later, here I am. I would like to say something amazing and deep… you’ll have to give me a few more minutes to come up with something.

I was just glancing at my Stats page, again, and that number 400 is just blinding me.

400 posts ago, I’d never lived outside my own country for more than a month (I’d been in Indonesia for that long). 400 posts ago, I’d never had to walk into a completely new church, in a completely new country, and make completely new friends. I’ll never be the same person again, because of the friendships I made, either. 400 posts ago, I’d never looked after children, 24/7, or seen kittens born. 400 posts ago, despite being a girl, living with and taking care of girls was completely foreign to me (I was raised with brothers, remember?).

And four hundred posts later, I’m still discovering the joy of telling a story, whether in writing or with photographs, and learning more about my own country and town. I’m still learning the art of making friends, even further from my comfort zone than Australia ever was. And I’m still treasuring the friendships I’ve made and the lovely comments I receive through the members of the blogging world, and those that have followed me on this adventure. So, thank you for helping me on this journey.

Whatever will the next 400 bring me? You’ll have to come along with me and find out.
