I’ll admit it, a Kindle is a really great thing to travel with, but… I want my library back. And it’s not even waiting for me, at home. It’s in a storage unit in Pennsylvania. Waiting for me to buy it a house (which lifetime will that be in?). It’s very sad.
Of course, after a while, I finally got my READ sign up. Bought that at Pier 1, and at least one of my friends still covet it. But I’ll never give it away. And yes, to any of my friends who saw my library when it was finished, these pictures are obviously not complete, with several shelves still missing, as well as my South American chimes, and several other things.
My dad brought the pieces of this set of shelves to PA in the trunk of our Accord. Made of MDF (medium density fiberboard), with some fancy trim for each section, he nailed and glued it together. All six sections (yes, that’s not all one piece) were left in my little house (house before this one), where I spent the next six months or more getting around to sanding the whole thing, and putting two layers of paint on it. And then I moved into this house, a year later, and… that slot in the wall just HAPPENED to fit it exactly. No joke. I had never been in this house before, so these shelves were not measured for it. It was like it was meant to be! : )
